🐘 Fiat 1.3 Multijet Diesel Engine Review
The white smoke is due to unburnt fuel caused by improper heating. Diesel engines need high compression and heat for fuel combustion. It can be especially difficult to start a diesel engine during cold weather. Diesels with an engine temperature below about 80 F. will produce some white smoke during the first few seconds after startup.
Fiat Doblo (2001 – 2009) At A Glance. Utilitarian looking. Bigger than Berlingo. Available with seven seats. Best with 1.3 Multijet diesel. Handles decently. Problems with turbos of 1.9 diesels. Peculiar looking contraption, the Doblo. Deliberately styled to look utilitarian, almost like a pastiche of a 1930's hotel bus.
The Multijet engine gives 75bhp at 4000 revs which translates to a torque of 140lb/ft at a rev count of 1750rpm. The Fiat Doblo also provides a fuel consumption of around 50mpg. For a 1.3-litre, the Fiat Doblo feels faster to drive on many levels & its 10.5m turning circle makes it great for negotiating busy city streets.

Question i have is the 1.3 multijet diesel used in the Fiat, the same as the ones used in Vauxhall cars, badged as CDTi, I am trying to find a replacement for my Fiat Idea which is becomming impossible, looking at Google searches it states it's the same engine, does anyone know if they are identical so that i could in effect
On the road, Fiat's second-generation 1.3 16v Multijet diesel suits the Panda perfectly. With increased torque – 190Nm at 1,500rpm – it offers greater flexibility at low speeds and an
It will evaporate. But if you truly hydrolocked the engine it will be scrap more then likely likely with valve damage. Not normally valve damage , more likely connecting rods. Also very difficult to damage the valves in the 1.3 multijet because of the sacrificial rockers. Also Diesel engine has might higher compression ratio than a petrol engine.
I had the same problem with our Panda 1.3 Multijet. The same engine is used under a different name by others like Vauxhall and Opel. I wasted over 6 months and about £400 trying to get this fixed wth various garages who replaced the Map sensor and other sensors and the EGR.
The 1.3 mulitjet diesel engine, despite its diminutive capacity and modest outputs (75bhp and 105 lb·ft respectively), is eager and responsive right the way up to its 4500rpm redline. With only 960 kg to haul around, there’s a noticeable swell in power once the tiny turbo comes alive, and the unit is quiet unless you really grind the pedal

Posts: 741. Thanked: 5 Times. The multijet and the TDci will retyrn almost similar fuel economy figures but the Tdci is devoid of any turbo lag which makes city driving easier compared to the multijet. The multijet should be easier to maintain though since it is produced in more numbers compared to the tdci and so the spares should be priced
